Terms of Service

Effective: 29 May 2026 · Last updated: 29 May 2026

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) before using MyTaxMate. By creating an account or using any part of the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About MyTaxMate

MyTaxMate (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an independent Malaysian personal income tax organisational tool operated at https://app.mytaxmate.my (“Service”).

MyTaxMate is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN / IRBM). We are not a licensed tax advisor, tax agent, or accountant. The Service is an organisational and computation aid — it does not constitute professional tax or legal advice, and we do not file tax returns on your behalf or act as your agent with LHDN.

Always verify your computed figures and file on the official LHDN portal at mytax.hasil.gov.my.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By registering, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that the information you provide is accurate. We may terminate accounts found to belong to minors.

3. Account Registration and Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information.
  • Keep your password secure and not share it with anyone.
  • Notify us immediately at support@mytaxmate.my if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose. You must not:

  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent tax or personal information into the Service.
  • Use the Service to commit tax evasion or any other unlawful act under Malaysian law, including the Income Tax Act 1967 or the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or extract data from the Service without our express written permission.
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service in a way that exceeds ordinary personal use.
  • Resell, sublicence, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service or its outputs without a written agreement with us.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any individual or entity.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules, without prior notice.

5. PDF Outputs — Sample Watermark

Tax form PDFs generated by MyTaxMate (Form BE, Form B, and any supporting schedules) carry a prominent “SAMPLE” watermark on every page. These PDFs are provided for reference and verification only.

You must not submit a watermarked PDF directly to LHDN as your official tax return. The official method of filing is via the LHDN e-Filing portal (mytax.hasil.gov.my) or an authorised tax agent. We accept no liability for penalties, fines, or rejections arising from misuse of a PDF generated by the Service.

6. Tax Computation Disclaimer

MyTaxMate implements Malaysian tax law (Income Tax Act 1967 and LHDN guidelines) to the best of our ability for the supported Years of Assessment. However:

  • Tax law is complex and subject to change. We cannot guarantee that every computation is perfectly accurate for every individual situation.
  • The Service does not account for every possible tax scenario, ruling, or special circumstance.
  • Computations provided by Kira (our AI tax assistant) are informational only and are not a substitute for advice from a licensed tax professional.
  • You are solely responsible for reviewing your figures, correcting any errors, and submitting an accurate return to LHDN.

If your situation is complex (e.g. business income, foreign income, partnership interests, significant capital gains), we recommend engaging a licensed tax agent or accountant.

7. Intellectual Property

All software, design, text, graphics, and brand elements of MyTaxMate are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by Malaysian and international intellectual property law. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the Service without our express written permission.

You retain ownership of all data you input into the Service (your tax figures, receipts, and personal information). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process that data solely to provide the Service to you.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law:

  • No warranty. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.
  • No liability for tax outcomes. We are not liable for any tax penalties, surcharges, fines, interest, or audit findings issued by LHDN or any other authority arising from information you entered, a computation produced by the Service, or your reliance on the Service when filing.
  • Cap on damages. In no event shall our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising out of or related to the Service exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or RM 50 if you have not paid anything).
  • Exclusion of consequential loss. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by gross negligence, to the extent such limitation is prohibited by law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MyTaxMate and its operators from and against any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service in breach of these Terms; (b) any data you submit that is false, fraudulent, or unlawful; or (c) your violation of any applicable law or third-party right.

10. Subscription and Payments

MyTaxMate currently offers a free tier. Paid features, if introduced in the future, will be subject to pricing and billing terms published at that time. We will notify existing users at least 30 days before any free feature becomes paid. You will never be charged without your explicit consent.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time via the “Delete account” page. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, for example by misusing the PDF outputs, entering fraudulent data, or violating the Acceptable Use rules above.

On termination, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the new Terms take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may close your account before the effective date.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia. We will always try to resolve disputes informally first — email us at support@mytaxmate.my and we will respond within 7 business days.

14. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
