About
The person behind MyTaxMate.
MyTaxMate is an independent Malaysian income tax app — receipt vault, relief tracker, and a guided path to a filing-ready Form BE or Form B. It's built by one person who files Malaysian taxes herself and got tired of the annual panic.
Who builds this
Lim Yueh Yih (most people call her YY) is the founder and builds MyTaxMate end to end. Her background is in enterprise systems (SAP functional consulting) — translating messy real-world rules into software that ordinary people can use is the day job, and Malaysian income tax is exactly that kind of messy. She files her own taxes every year, the same forms this site writes about.
Yueh Yih isn't a licensed tax agent, and MyTaxMate doesn't pretend to be one. What it promises instead: every number in the app and every guide on this site traces to an LHDN primary source you can check yourself.
How the tax content stays accurate
Every guide is written against primary sources only — the Income Tax Act 1967, LHDN's Public Rulings, and hasil.gov.my itself — never third-party blogs, which routinely lag a year behind the law. Each article lists its sources at the bottom, shows an honest published and updated date, and gets re-verified every filing season when LHDN publishes new figures. The tax engine inside the app follows the same rule: rates and relief caps come from the official YA tables, and when LHDN changes something, the app changes with it.
Spotted something wrong or outdated? Email support@mytaxmate.my — corrections ship fast, and you'll have made the guide better for everyone who lands on it after you.
What MyTaxMate deliberately doesn't do
It doesn't file your taxes for you — there's no e-Filing API in Malaysia, and anyone implying otherwise is overselling. You submit on MyTax yourself; MyTaxMate makes sure you arrive with organised receipts, every relief you're entitled to, and figures you can copy with confidence. It doesn't give personal tax advice either — for binding answers on your specific situation, LHDN and licensed tax agents (Ejen Cukai berdaftar) are the right doors. And it is not affiliated with LHDN / IRBM in any way.
Curious whether it fits how you file? It's free to start — bring one receipt and see what happens.
